Music, Drama, Visual and Fine Arts have the power to build community, transform students' connections to school, and provide thought provoking, soul-stirring experiences.

Hoover Groove is the only parent-supported group specifically and historically formed for the advancement of the Arts at Hoover. Last year's fund raising activities for the HG scholarship program resulted in a dozen scholarships awarded to students in the Visual and Performing Arts!

Successful programs included:

  • Development of the First Annual Johnny Harrison Commercial Art/Auto Design Competition
  • Completion of the awesome Hoover Tornadoes Marching Band truck
  • Coordination of fund raising activities for the Hoover Choir
  • Payment for the Choir accompanist
  • Annual Groovy Award commendation to Mr. Brogdan
  • Successful Glenwood Road Block pARTy turnout!
  • Media Arts Academy Steering Committee members
  • Coordinating concessions for Drama and Jazz Band performances
  • Phantom Event fundraiser

Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, arts professionals, and community supporters, Hoover Groove has been able to purchase musical instruments, subsidize field trips, and supplement travel expenses for national music festivals. We have awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships for college and for unique summer programs.
Horizontal Rule

Our current goals are:
  • Help fund the piano accompanist for the Choir
(Thanks to Johnny Harrison of Lexus of Glendale who
has paid for our accompanist for 2010-2011 school year.)
  • Expand scholarships for summer programs and college
  • Help build the new Cinematography/Film program
